Polish Folk Art Workshops: Wycinanki & Kurpie Kwiaty

Wieslawa Bogdanska, Master Artist and expert in Kurpie Traditions, is scheduled to conduct workshops in Wycinanki (paper cutouts) and Kurpie Kwiaty (paper flowers) October 11 at St. Bernard’s hall. Limited to 25 participants each workshop!

Wieslawa’s passion for Kurpie Folk Art began as a child, inspired by her grandmother, mother and her aunt, all masters of Kurpie Folk Art. Her award winning wycinanki adorn collections of museums in Berlin, Białystok, Warsaw, Łomża, Kraków, Płock, Toruń and Ostrołęka. In the years 1991-1992, she designed and made cutouts for opłatek wafer decorations for Pope John Paul II, commissioned by the Pauline Fathers. Also, her wycinanki were presented by the Mazovian Voivode to the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet.

She has conducted workshops and/or has exhibited her art in Germany, Sweden, Greece and Japan. She has exhibited her art at the World Exhibition EXPO Reykjavik,
Iceland 2006- Festival of Polish culture Portdown, Ireland 2007-Country comes to Town Switzerland 2007 and Christmas decorations show Yerevan, Armenia 2012-Europe Day.

Workshop fee is $25.00 each.
PACB and PGSNYS members pay $20.00 each.
All materials provided.
Participants need to bring a pair of scissors.
